10 Steps To Begin Your Own Best Robot Vacuum That Mops Business
The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst at Good Housekeeping’s Home Care and Cleaning Lab.
He tests and evaluates cleaning equipment. His focus is on mopping robots and vacuum combinations. These multitaskers can be ideal for those who want to get rid of mopping off their list of tasks. They have impressive mapping and obstacle avoidance capabilities, and some even wash and refill their mopping pads for a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you’re looking for a robot vacuum that can also mop, this is the model to look for. It is smaller than other models and makes it easier to maneuver in tight corners or under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it some of my favorite navigation and object avoidance features I’ve seen in robot vacuums. It’s powered by a 4600mAh battery that can last up to 170 mins when cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer when it is set to turbo). It will even return to the dock to top up its battery midway through cleaning.
It’s very quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one pass. Its suction motor of 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, crumbs, and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help pull out dirt from corners.
The mopping performance is a little less impressive, but not by a lot. The mop’s rotating mechanism spins fast and uses 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stain. I’ve noticed that the front arm protrudes out a little more than other robots. This is useful when getting into difficult corners or along baseboards. Those same front arms can be used to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and books.
Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuum Mops vacuums and mops I’ve ever used. It doesn’t create the same volume of sound while vacuuming or mopping and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping, and is sold separately from the vacuum. It is easy to install, and it works well. However when you purchase this robot vacuum solely to mop you must be aware of this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums that mop in its class. It is a powerful machine for cleaning with a wide range of features.
The device comes with an efficient cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This enables it to map out the house and also find furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean efficiently and effectively. This will ensure an even and thorough clean, while also being relatively rapid.
In terms of mopping, the Q Revo’s DuoRoller mop pads are capable of reaching many different surface areas. They can reach corners and baseboards as well as other hard-to-reach spots. They also have a stretchy side brush that can be extended to the floor in close proximity to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and dry to remove odors and prevent buildup.
App-based customization is a different interesting feature. The Q Revo allows you to alter the intensity of its suction and select between a back-andforth, or a more random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes which will determine how quickly it can move around your home. You can also disable the side brush in order to prevent damage to carpets and carpets.
The device is costly, however it has many useful features. However, it’s important to note that it incurs regular costs in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance the brushroll has to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to twelve months. The filter will need to be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad must be replaced every one to three months.
The robot vacuum that mops has a high rating on Amazon and includes a broad range of physical automation features. It has an energy button that serves as a general “Clean’ button and a ‘Home’ button that will send it back to its base station after completing its cleaning task. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically emptys the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and cleans and drys its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you’re a professional with a lot of work or someone who just wants a cleaner home without spending a lot of time on chores then the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. It’s a top-performing device, intelligent navigation, and a long battery life that allows you to keep your home tidy with little effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is a 2-in-1 mop and vacuum. It can do both vacuuming as well as mopping. It has two modules: a combined dry bin and reservoir of water, and a separate mopping module with a microfiber pad that snaps into and out of the way. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming might seem a bit outdated but they’re a good thing because you don’t have to think about changing disposable bags or refueling the tank with water.
Our test subjects found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming and mopping. Its best feature was its precise floorplan that it uses to draw the path to follow when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate effortlessly around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app lets you create ‘No-Go Zones’ or virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mop.
We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in removing hair of pets. It was able to capture many of the hair our cats shed, and even got into the nooks and crannies of our stairs where other robots have struggled. It was relatively quiet and even had some pleasant jingles that signalled when it was about to start or finished its work.
The app was too basic and you had to switch the modules every time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app is not able to keep multiple maps. This can be a problem if your home has multiple floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a ideal choice for people who want a device that can mop and vacuum.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. However, it has some unique features which make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its enormous dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses the 2.5-liter dustbin and the 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.
The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These let you manually start a cleaning job, recall the robot, or use the dock’s automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock that is a great option for parents concerned about kids tinkering with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more accurate at recognising objects.
This can cause the X1 to become stuck if it gets caught in an obstacle, such as a power cable tangled over a rug. It won’t function until you untangle it manually. This was a rare occurrence however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have a “stuck status” alert in its app.
The X1 Omni isn’t able to automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You will need to manually switch between the two, which isn’t too bad except for the fact that the mopping pads haven’t been cleaned and dried between use which could lead to mildew or mold.
On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It’s a significant departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It’s also an excellent choice for an industry dominated by boxy models.
